DIV/ORCE 7" SERIES
Not the bottom of the pile, but a pile on it's own, a handful of artists have
stepped back to watch pop culture as it grows to the point of no control. Even
Popular Cultures supposed counterpart, the force that once applied every ounce
of it's being into not taking part, has now become it's own set of
rules/restrictions.
These People are at the side lines to witness the struggle between the masses
and the slightly less massive. They watch uncomfortably as the rebels burry
themselves in new fashion and break themselves against the confines of their
pigeonholes. The underdogs become a collection of ideals - at first a community
based on the exchange of ideas between like minds - but soon they begin to
design the look / aesthetic / sound / code of opposition, giving it a name and a
dogmatic code and subsequently they become what they are fighting against.
This series of nine split singles is the closest thing to a documentation of
those who have divorced themselves from said plight. For those blessed with the
comprehension that underground art forms should not be defined, and any attempt
to do so destroys the rebellious, untamed nature of such art.
The two sides of these singles are deliberately different from each other
sonically. This is to illustrate the uncanny similarity in ideals and spirit
between them. Like two spurs from the same mother, these artists are of their
own, but together bring to light the idea of being on the outside of an ironic
struggle - culture vs. itself.
